Beyond A Care Job – Featuring Tina (Visiting Nurse Association)

This is an entry to recognize a top caregiver in the industry, submitted by Mary at Visiting Nurse Association in Iowa. Please join us is recognizing a care job well done.

I am going to describe a situation where Tina demonstrated her love of her job with a perfect stranger. I would not have known about the situation had this person not written to me to describe her interaction. I quote from the ‘stranger’: “On Saturday [October 24], I feel in the Walmart parking lot. A wonderful, dear, helpful woman immediately came to my assistance, helping me to get up and calling out to my oblivious husband. She assured me she worked at VNA and made sure only my pride was hurt as she let me go on my own. We thanked her and she said VNA would always be there to help and she was happy she could help — and to call the VNA if we ever needed help. She is a living, breathing commercial with more than any advertisement could purchase. I’m not sure of her name.”

This action by Tina is replicated in her job every day caring for our clients in a home health setting. Truly, integrity is to do what is right even when no one is looking, and that’s who Tina is to VNA and her clients, and even strangers.
